Nonpublic personal information is defined as
financial information that is personally identifiable and that can not be
obtained from a public source, such as government records or telephone
directories.
Under the Privacy Act, every financial
institution is required to provide certain types of information to its consumer
customers, including:

What nonpublic personal information that we collect

Whether or not we disclose nonpublic personal information and, if so, to whom.

Whether or not we make permitted disclosure of nonpublic personal information
to service providers and joint marketers.

How we protect the confidentiality and security of nonpublic personal
information.
The Privacy Act allows consumer customers to
limit the disclosure of nonpublic personal information by financial
institutions, except where disclosure by the financial institution is permitted
or required by law.
Our Privacy Disclosure
This privacy disclosure notice is for all our
customers who have a continuing relationship with us in which we provide one or
more financial products or services, such as a deposit account, savings
account, consumer loan, mortgage loan, or safe deposit box.
Information That We May Collect
We collect nonpublic personal information about customers from
the following sources:

Information we receive on applications or other forms, such as Social security
numbers, loan and account numbers, property addresses, income, assets, and
other debt.

Information about transactions with us and others, such as account activity and
balances, payment histories, parties to transactions, and credit-debit card
usage.

Information from consumer reporting agencies or other outside sources, such as
credit history, creditworthiness, and employment history.

Information That We Disclose
We do not disclose any nonpublic personal
information about our customers or former customers to anyone, except as
permitted or required by law. The following disclosures of nonpublic personal
information are some examples of what is permitted or required by law:

Disclosure of information necessary to effect, administer, or enforce a
transaction that is requested or authorized by the customer.

Disclosure of information to our service providers, such as our data processing
service provider.

Disclosure of information to comply with subpoenas, court orders, or the
reporting requirements of the Internal Revenue Service.

Disclosure of information to credit reporting agencies, such as information
regarding payment history on a loan with us.

Disclosure of information to a third party that has been authorized by the
customer, such as a credit reference or account verification.

Disclosure of information to bank regulatory agencies and our bank auditors and
attorneys.
These are the only types of disclosures of
customer information that we make. Because we do not share or sell our
customers’ nonpublic personal information with affiliates or any
nonaffiliated third parties for outside marketing purposes, you do not need to
take any steps to limit or restrict disclosure of your nonpublic personal
information by Valley National Bank.
Additional Disclosures Permitted by Law
Federal law allows us to disclose all of the
information we collect, as described herein, to companies that perform
marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom
we have joint marketing arrangements. You do not have a right to opt out of the
disclosure of this information.
Our reasons for disclosing nonpublic personal
information about customers under these circumstances would be to provide our
customers with information about additional products and services.
If we should elect to share any nonpublic
information about you, we will require confidentiality of the shared
information be maintained and prohibit disclosures or use of the information
for any purpose other than the purpose intended by us.
Confidentiality, Security, and Integrity
Every employee at Valley National Bank is
required to execute a Confidentiality Agreement no less than annually and is
bound by a code of ethics to maintain the confidentiality of customer
information.
We maintain physical and electronic security
systems and security policies and procedures to protect the nonpublic personal
information of our customers. Personal information on former customers is
retained only as long as necessary to conform with required retention periods
or satisfy legal requirements.
